Overview

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation is an all-natural breast enhancement procedure that uses sterilized fat and stem cells collected from other areas of the body to increase breast size naturally.

Dr. Ergun Kocak, Dr. Pankaj Tiwari, and Dr. Santosh Kale of Midwest Breast and Aesthetic Surgery are board-certified plastic surgeons who have over 20 years of experience providing their patients with satisfying results.

Insurance Coverage and Cost

The cost of Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation is $5,300 – 6,000. This may change depending on several factors, such as the requested cup size increase, the location from which the fat will be taken, follow-up visits, or miscellaneous medical fees. You will get an accurate quotation during your consultation.

The Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Procedure

This procedure utilizes fat grafting techniques similar to non-surgical facelift and Brazilian Butt Lift. Breast implants or foreign objects are NOT used to increase the size of your breasts.

The steps of this operation may be performed under either general or local anesthesia. However, more significant amounts of harvested fat will require general anesthesia.

  • Harvesting
Fat cells are obtained from the parts of your body that may need liposuction. Instead of being drained away, the collected fat is sterilized and separated into its base components with a centrifuge.
  • Graft Handling and Preparation
Only fat and stem cells are collected into individual syringes to ensure the best results. More extensive augmentations require more fat injections and, therefore, more syringes. Individual injections also give your doctor more control over the augmentation process.
  • Recipient-Site Injection
The sterilized fat will be injected into strategically-placed areas that maximize volume retention for the most efficient increase in size.

Recovery

Fat transfer surgeries are outpatient procedures with little to no downtime. If large amounts of fat are harvested, the recovery period maybe a little longer.

You will need to wear a surgical bra and other compression garments for 1 – 2 weeks, or until the target areas are no longer swollen. You may return to work after two weeks, and you may drive once it is no longer painful to wear a seatbelt. Avoid any heavy lifting or strenuous activities for 6 – 8 weeks.

Results

Augmented breasts may be larger than the intended size for a few weeks. This will go down as your body absorbs some of the injected fat.

Final results will manifest up to 2 – 3 months after the initial procedure. Over time, the size of the breasts may decrease and require additional fat injections to retain their size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will all the fat that is taken during liposuction be used for the procedure?

Not all of the fat collected during the harvest will be used. The accumulated sterile fat will be separated into its various components (fat, stem cells, fluid).

Only the fat and stem cells will be collected into syringes for injection to the breasts.

Are the results permanent?

While the breasts will be permanently enhanced, there is a chance that a proportion of the injected fat will be absorbed by the body, thereby causing the breasts to grow smaller than the desired result. If this happens, another round of fat grafting may be necessary to augment the breasts again.

How many cup sizes can I expect to go up with this procedure?

This will depend on each person’s aesthetic goal and how much fat is available to transfer. This procedure can reliably increase a person’s size by 0.5 – 1 cup size. If a person would like a more drastic increase in cup size, this may require multiple rounds of fat transfer.

What parts of the body can you harvest fat from?

Fat and stem cells are collected from areas of the body where fat is stored. These sites will vary from person to person, as fat storage quantities and location will vary from person to person.

Common sites include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, back, and arms. From these areas, we prefer to collect fat and stem cells from areas that do not change as a person gains and loses weight. Additionally, aesthetic considerations will also factor into where the fat is collected. Care is taken to make sure that the areas where the fat is collected appear as natural as possible.

Is there a required BMI range for this surgery?

We recommend that any person in the process of losing weight reach their goal for at least three months prior to the procedure. This will allow the results to be more reliable and predictable. For each person’s safety, we recommend a BMI of less than 35.

What are my options if I do not have enough fat needed for grafting?

Most people are a candidate from fat transfer breast augmentation. For patients that desire a substantial change in cup size (increase by 2+ cup sizes), a small implant may be necessary.
