Overview

While not a common occurrence, certain problems may still arise from any form of cosmetic or plastic surgery. Breast revision surgery corrects these complications. Midwest Breast & Aesthetic Surgery’s Dr. Pankaj Tiwari, Dr. Ergun Kocak, and Dr. Santosh Kale are among the best board-certified plastic surgeons in Ohio. Their combined experiences and skills have resulted in countless successful results from breast revision surgery.

Insurance Coverage and Costs

On average, breast revision surgery in Ohio typically varies between $5,000 – $10,000. Final costs will be determined by a host of miscellaneous medical expenses including surgical technique, surgeon’s fee, and anesthesia and operating room expenses. We accept all major credit cards, personal checks, and third-party financing through CareCredit. However, due to the cosmetic nature surrounding breast enhancement surgery, insurance providers may not cover the costs.

Techniques

Breast Implant Revision

Restores the results from the initial procedure by replacing the original implants with a newer model. Our surgeons will carefully follow the incisions from the initial procedure, and may include a breast lift in order to optimize your final results.

Explant Surgery

Also known as Total En Bloc Capsulectomy, this procedure removes the implant in patients following augmentation or mastectomy surgery. Depending on your needs, fat transfer and breast lift may be included in the procedure. Learn more about explant surgery.

Breast Lift Revision

Restores results by using the same incision from the initial procedure to reshape the breasts in order to enhance firmness and contour.

Breast Reduction Revision

Reduction revision restores the results from the initial surgery. However, the actual technique used during surgery will depend on the individual needs of each patient. During the procedure, incisions will be made along the original route in order to reduce scar tissue and reshape the breast mound. Additionally, a dermal filler can be used to enhance results, alongside a breast augmentation or lift.

The Breast Revision Surgery Procedure

Your surgical procedure will highly depend on the nature of your revision. Following a consultation, your surgeon will determine the exact nature of your breast enhancement complication with a mammogram, MRI scan, or clinical diagnosis. Once the exact cause of your concern has been identified, a surgical plan will be developed.

Depending on your technique, the whole procedure can take between 2 – 3 hours to perform under general anesthesia.

Recovery & Results

Breast revision surgery is often an outpatient procedure, but any complications during surgery may extend your stay in the hospital. You will be given a surgical bra which you must wear during your entire recovery time in order to achieve your maximum results. It is recommended to have a loved one assist you with your daily activities for at least 2 days.

Light activities such as chores and minimal exercises may be resumed after 1 week. You may return to work within this time as well. Driving, full body showers, and strenuous exercises may continue within 2 weeks. Maintain scar care until redness fades. You should be left with a white scar after 6 weeks that is easily hidden under your bra or bikini top.

By the time your final results settle after 6 weeks to 3 months, you will be left with your ideal breast shape and size.

Breast Revision Surgery Frequently Asked Questions

Should I have my breast implants removed or replaced?

This is entirely up to you. Your surgeon may recommend a different implant type if your current one is not up to the task. Full removal is a decision that must be made with certainty, so seek advice from your board-certified surgeons.

What are the risks and complications?

Extended swelling and redness is a common side-effect. The usual complications for implants also apply – capsular contracture, rupture, or deflation. These complications are rare, especially if your surgeon is board-certified.

Will I have pain and extra sensitivity in my nipples?

If you underwent breast lift, it is possible. Very rarely, the incision can damage some nerves and cause numbness or oversensitivity.

Can I undergo a revision breast lift or a revision breast reduction?

Midwest Breast & Aesthetic Surgery’s board-certified plastic surgeons can perform a wide variety of revision breast enhancement surgeries including revision lift and reduction procedures. The surgical method used during the procedure itself will depend on your surgeon’s assessment of your needs during your initial consultation.
